Oil cap leaking :(

I've recently changed oil and oil filter in my '06 883xl. Bike was dry before oil change and now it keeps spilling oil on oil cap (under the seat on the right side). There is always a big amout of oil at the bottom of the bike (probably all from oil cap) and it's drippin' all the time especially if bike is hot. First I thought that I've put too much oil in it so it's rejecting the excess. I've put exactly 3.0 litres (3.17qts) although I've red somewhere it receives 2.65 litres (2.8qts) , so I've thought it will stop leaking once it rejects the excess oil, but now, after 500 miles, the dipstick is between the lowest level and the middle but it still leaks :( (it was almost on the highest level after the oil change). I'm waiting it to comes to the lowest level to add more oil (but I hope I'll not have to :( ) Help!!

I over filled and drew some out..
My 08 1200R fools me,,
IF dead cold and parked over night,,the Oil Is exact middle between full and add,,
after a ride It shows full to top of stick,,1/4 inch above the full mark.

I made the Mistake of moving the bike In the garage once,,let her sit 15 minutes,,
Oil showed barely touching bottom of stick,,I added to half way up the stick,,,
Bad BADdd bike owner I am,,got over flow,,had to remove oil,,all I had added.

Mine held 2.4 + the .4 in the filter..
On my first oil change,,the dealer told me 3 qts,, I'm Glad I checked in here.:thumbsup

I did the exact same thing with my Iron. I thought I was low and added half a quart. I was miles away when I noticed it leaking from the cap. I had to stop at a grocery store and get a cheap turkey baster. Sucked it out and I was good to go and a little wiser..:bluduh
